After you read the article about Viral Marketing in General I want to tell you about Mark Filsaim’s newest project “Butterfly Reports”.

When I saw “Free High Quality Reports”, my first thought was “Yeah, sure. Free AND High Quality!”

But I joined. Why not - it’s free.
I joined with healthy skepticism. I am usually pretty critical of the free content you find out there.
However, I soon found my skepticism melting away. In fact, I was quite pleasantly surprised by what I found.
First, I have to say that this site is pretty ingenious when you think about it. Branded, high quality reports you get to give away - and make money from.
When I actually checkout out a few of the reports, I found that they were much more than just “thrown together trash”. In fact, quite the opposite.

Along with the reports supplied by the staff writers of the site, members can also contribute their own reports. As a free member, you can contribute one of your original reports every month.

When you join the program and the first time log in, you probably will be as overwelmed as I was.

You see a “Marketplace” full of different categories where you can use the reports you want to brand and give away or sell which way soever.

Your have the possibility to include your own reports and set an expiration date whereafter it cannot be branded and downloaded anymore thus avoiding that it will loose its attraction when spreaded too widely.

Your can choose among 6 already prepared templates to use as the introduction page of your PDF- or HTML-reports. You will find a very comforable to use HTML-editor there to prepare your own templates and let others use them too.

I really like this program and only regret, that I missed the duedate of upgrading for a much lower monthly fee than I can do it now. But I think it is worth upgrading anyhow.
My advice to you is simple. Join. Now. Why wouldn’t you?

So how can you put a viral marketing campaign together for your own business – and more importantly, do you even want to?

Let me answer that second question first, okay?  YES! You definitely want to take the time to brainstorm your own viral marketing campaign – even if you don’t someday want to be as big as hotmail, yahoo or Gmail.

By creating your own viral marketing campaign, you’ll be doing more than getting the word out about your new affiliate product.  You’ll be gathering social proof – and that will help your sales to go through the roof.

So how do you set up your own viral marketing campaign?  The first thing to do is to get back to the basics.

Here’s the real “secret” to making a lot of money with affiliate products.  Have the right product, with the right message to the right people in the right time.

So start with your affiliate product.  Make sure that there’s a hungry audience for whatever you’re selling.

Then make sure that you’re sending out the right message – an in the right way.  If you’re marketing a product to teens, you’ll want to make sure that it’s something they want – and you’ll have to reach them where they’re hanging out.  That might be on MySpace, twitter or even Friendster.

What’s the right message?  Maybe it’s a special report.  But it could just as easily be a video.  Or an audio mp3 file.  Match your message to your audience.  And finally, make sure that you’re getting your message out at the right time – when your audience is ready to buy it.

Make your viral marketing campaign stand out from the crowd – because that’s how it’s going to get passed around and become viral.  By understanding the basics – who your audience is, what they want, how they want to get it and when they want it – all you have to do next is to create something that your audience loves – or hates – or finds interesting enough – to pass around to their friends.  And because your product comes with an implied endorsement – social proof – those people will pass it around to other people – and the buzz goes on…and on…and on…and you’ll start hearing the “ka-ching!” of your cash register going off a lot more often.

In choosing an affiliate program, read the fine print carefully – some pay-per-click programs take the ratio of the number of people who went to your site and the actual people who clicked on the ad as a basis for their payment. If you have a heavily targeted website, this can hurt your earnings.

How can you start?

Of course, you need to have a website or even preferrable a blog. Depending on your targeted visitors, choose the best affiliate merchants that are most related to your topic. For example, your website or blog is about reducing weight then you can search for affiliate programs that sell diet books, diet recepies, diet food ect. - everything which might help loosing weight and might ionterest related visitors.

However, if you don’t have an own website, that’s not a problem. You can buy ready niche content pages which are not expensive at all or use a program which creates as many keyword targeted sites as you want within minutes.

But wait, we are facing one big problem here. The best sites with the best paid advertisments are useless if the most important is missing – TRAFFIC!!!
